Professional Negotiation Consulting Services
Explore our range of services designed to help you move forward with confidence, wherever you're headed next.
What We Offer
Four service tiers. One specialized firm. Every engagement is delivered through our proprietary EDGE Framework — built for the deals that matter most.
We offer four structured service tiers designed to meet you wherever you are in your negotiation — from pre-deal strategy to sitting at the table on your behalf.
Tier 1: Negotiation Strategy Consulting & BATNA Analysis
For executives, teams, and organizations preparing for high-stakes commercial negotiations.
Most negotiations are won or lost before anyone sits down at the table. Tier 1 is our pre-negotiation strategy service — a deep-dive engagement that gives you a complete picture of your position, your counterparty's position, and the clearest path to your best possible outcome.
-
BATNA and ZOPA analysis on both sides of the table — what your real alternatives are, and what theirs are
Counterparty profiling — goals, constraints, pressure points, and likely tactics
Custom negotiation playbook — your opening position, anchoring strategy, concession sequencing, and fallback positions
Scenario planning — what happens if they say X, counter with Y, or walk away
Leverage assessment — what you have, what you're not using, and how to change that
-
Tier 1 is built for organizations and executives preparing for complex, high-value negotiations where the wrong move is expensive. Procurement teams negotiating supplier contracts. Executives preparing for M&A conversations. Innovation leaders entering IP licensing discussions. If the deal is material and you want to walk in with more preparation than the other side — this is the service.
Tier 2: Negotiation Strategy Consulting & BATNA Analysis
1-on-1 coaching for individuals, executives, and teams — from salary negotiations to high-stakes leadership deals.
Tier 2 is our coaching and training service — built for professionals who want to become significantly better negotiators, and for individuals who need support navigating a specific high-stakes conversation right now.
-
Anyone who negotiates — which is everyone. Tier 2 coaching is especially valuable for professionals preparing for a specific high-stakes conversation (a salary review, a promotion, a vendor renegotiation), and for executives and teams who want to build lasting negotiation capability rather than just winning the deal in front of them.
-
Salary negotiation coaching — prepare for your offer conversation, counteroffer response, and total compensation discussion
Executive negotiation coaching — 1-on-1 sessions building your strategic negotiation capability over time
Job offer negotiation — evaluate your offer, build your counter, and practice your delivery
Freelance and consulting rate negotiation — anchor higher, hold your rate, and protect your margin
-
Half-day and full-day negotiation workshops for teams of any size
Role-play simulations with live feedback from a professional negotiator
Custom scenarios built around the deal types your team actually faces
Negotiation capability assessment before and after training
Tier 3: Active Negotiation Brokerage & Contract Negotiation Representation
Live deal representation for your most important negotiations.
Tier 3 is the most direct form of negotiation support we offer. We represent you — or work directly alongside you — in live negotiations. This is not legal representation. This is professional negotiation brokerage: a trained negotiator at the table, in real time, working to deliver the outcome you need.
-
Direct client representation at the negotiating table in a non-legal capacity
Real-time standby coaching during live negotiations — available by phone or message while you're in the room
Multi-party negotiation facilitation — complex deals with more than two parties
Dispute de-escalation and creative deal architecture — for negotiations that have stalled or gone sideways
Post-negotiation debrief — what worked, what didn't, and what to do differently next time
-
Tier 3 is for high-stakes situations where the outcome is too important to leave to chance — and where having a professional negotiator in the room changes what's possible. Founders in term sheet negotiations. Executives facing supplier renegotiations with significant financial exposure. Business owners in partnership or acquisition conversations. Anyone who has ever walked out of a negotiation wishing they'd had someone better prepared in their corner.
Tier 4: Corporate Negotiation Training Programs & Procurement Advisory
Enterprise-wide negotiation capability — from assessment to custom frameworks to ongoing advisory retainers.
Tier 4 is built for organizations that want negotiation excellence at scale — not just one winning deal, but a company-wide capability that compounds over time. We work with procurement teams, business development functions, and executive leadership to build the processes, playbooks, and skills that turn negotiation into a strategic advantage.
-
Enterprise-wide negotiation capability assessment — where your organization stands today and where the gaps are
Custom negotiation framework development — built around your deal types, industry, and counterparties
Ongoing procurement negotiation advisory — retainer-based support for your sourcing and purchasing team
Business development negotiation advisory — retainer support for your BD and partnerships function
Negotiation benchmarking — how your outcomes compare to industry norms, and where you're leaving value behind
-
Mid-market and enterprise organizations where negotiation outcomes have a material impact on margins, cost structures, or growth. Procurement teams that negotiate dozens or hundreds of contracts annually. BD teams building complex partnerships. Any organization that has realized its people negotiate constantly but has never built a repeatable process around it.
FAQs
What does a negotiation consultant actually do?
1
A negotiation consultant provides professional strategy, coaching, or direct representation to help you achieve better outcomes in important negotiations. Unlike a lawyer who provides legal advice, a negotiation consultant focuses on deal strategy, leverage, counterparty behavior, and the tactics and sequencing that determine how a negotiation plays out. At NegotiationsEdge, we can work with you before the negotiation (strategy), during your preparation (coaching), or at the table itself (active brokerage).
How is NegotiationsEdge different from a lawyer?
2
NegotiationsEdge is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal representation. We provide negotiation strategy and consulting — which is a different discipline. Lawyers ensure agreements are legally sound. We ensure you get the best possible terms before anything is written into an agreement. Many clients use both: a negotiation consultant to optimize the deal, and a lawyer to document it.
Do you work with clients remotely?
3
Yes. NegotiationsEdge is based in Sacramento, CA but works with clients nationwide and remotely. All four service tiers are available virtually. Active brokerage engagements can be conducted remotely or in-person depending on the nature of the negotiation.
What types of negotiations does NegotiationsEdge handle?
4
We work across a wide range of negotiation types: salary and compensation negotiations, commercial contract negotiations, supplier and procurement negotiations, M&A and partnership deals, IP licensing agreements, corporate-startup partnerships, R&D consortium deals, and internal budget and resource negotiations. If there's a deal on the table and the outcome matters — we can help.
